This Privacy Policy describes how H ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application.

In short: Your habit data stays on your device. We collect minimal, anonymous analytics to improve the app, but your personal habits and data never leave your device.

Who We Are

H is operated by an individual sole proprietor based in New York, United States. For the purposes of data protection laws, the data controller is the individual operator of this service.

1. Information Collection

Habit Data (Stored Locally)

Your habit data—including habit names, check-in history, notes, and generated insights—is stored securely on your device and never leaves your device.

Analytics Data (PostHog)

We collect anonymous usage analytics through PostHog to understand how you interact with the app and improve the user experience. This includes:

  • Feature usage patterns (which features you use and how often)
  • User behavior flows (navigation patterns and interactions)
  • Device information (OS version, device type, app version)
  • Session data (app opens, session duration)

We do NOT collect: Your habit names, check-in data, notes, insights, or any personally identifiable information.

Legal Basis: We process this analytics data based on our legitimate interest in improving app functionality and user experience. Analytics collection is essential to the app's operation and cannot be disabled. By downloading and using the app, you consent to this data collection. If you object to anonymous analytics collection, please do not download or use the app.

Error Data (Sentry)

Sentry automatically collects crash reports and error logs to help us identify and fix bugs. This includes:

  • Crash reports and stack traces
  • Error logs for debugging
  • Device context (OS version, device model, app version)

We do NOT collect: Your habit data or any personal information through Sentry.

2. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Your habit data is stored securely on your device and remains completely private. This data stays on your device until you uninstall the app or manually delete it through the app settings.

Analytics and Error Data

Anonymous analytics data (PostHog) and error reports (Sentry) are transmitted securely to their respective servers via HTTPS. These services process data according to their own security standards and privacy policies.

International Data Transfers

PostHog and Sentry may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your anonymous analytics and error data to these jurisdictions. PostHog and Sentry implement appropriate safeguards to protect data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Data Retention

Your habit data is retained on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app. Anonymous analytics data is retained by PostHog according to their retention policy (typically 7 years). Error reports are retained by Sentry for 90 days. You may request deletion of your analytics data by contacting privacy@tryh.app.

3. Third-Party Services

H integrates with the following third-party services to improve app functionality and user experience:

PostHog (Analytics)

  • Purpose: Understand feature usage and improve user experience
  • Data Collected: Anonymous usage patterns, feature interactions, device metadata, session information
  • Data NOT Collected: Habit names, check-in data, notes, or any personal content
  • Legal Basis: Legitimate interest in app improvement; user consent via app download
  • Opt-out: Not available. If you object to analytics, do not use the app

Sentry (Error Tracking)

  • Purpose: Detect and fix crashes and errors to ensure app stability
  • Data Collected: Crash reports, error logs, stack traces, device context
  • Data NOT Collected: Habit data or personal information
  • Collection: Automatic

Services We DO NOT Use

To protect your privacy, we explicitly do not use:

  • Advertising networks or ad tracking
  • Data brokers or data resellers
  • Cloud sync or backup services for your habit data
  • Social media trackers or pixels

4. Data Sharing

Your habit data never leaves your device and is never shared with anyone. It remains completely private and under your control at all times.

Anonymous analytics data and error reports are shared only with PostHog and Sentry, respectively, for the specific purposes described in Section 3. These services process data according to their own privacy policies and security standards.

We do not sell, rent, or trade any data—analytics, error reports, or otherwise—to third parties. We do not work with data brokers or advertising networks.

You can export your habit data as a JSON file through the app settings. This export is generated on your device and you control where to save or share it.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information. We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months and do not intend to sell personal information in the future. California residents have the right to request information about data collection and deletion. Contact us at privacy@tryh.app to exercise these rights.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Under data protection laws including GDPR and CCPA, you have the following rights:

Rights Regarding Your Habit Data

  • Right to Access: View all your habit data directly in the app at any time
  • Right to Deletion: Delete individual habits or all data through app settings
  • Right to Data Portability: Export your data in JSON format through the app settings
  • Right to Object: Not applicable as we don't process your habit data on our servers

Rights Regarding Analytics and Error Data

  • Right to Access: Contact us at privacy@tryh.app to request information about anonymous analytics associated with your device
  • Right to Deletion: Contact us at privacy@tryh.app to request deletion of analytics and error data
  • Right to Object: Analytics collection is essential to app functionality. By using the app, you consent to this processing. If you wish to object, please uninstall the app and discontinue use

You have complete control over your habit data at all times. For analytics and error data, please contact us to exercise your rights.

6. Children's Privacy

The app is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act):

  • Users must be at least 13 years old to use this app
  • No personal information or habit data is collected from any user
  • All analytics data is anonymous and cannot be linked to individual users
  • Habit data remains entirely on the device and is never transmitted

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has used the app, please contact us at privacy@tryh.app and we will delete any associated anonymous analytics data.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
